About 18 shots were fired in the Georgetown Square Apartments parking lot.

An unidentified shooter in a parking lot outside of the Georgetown Square Apartments was caught on camera firing round after round.

Thursday, the Racine Police Department shared video of the incident on Facebook, asking for the public's help in identifying the shooter.

About 18 shots in all, the Sept. 27 incident terrorized the neighborhood and hit too close to home for one family.

"It just sounded like a bunch of pop, pop, pop, pop going off," says Mary Rivera. "I only heard four shots, so I must have like blacked out the rest of them from being in shock, or whatever, but I just know that I pushed both of them on the floor."

Mary Rivera lived in the apartment complex. She tells WISN 12 News reporter Kendall Keys that she had plans to move before this incident. She was helping her two sons, 9 and 21 years old, pack their belongings in their room when bullets came flying in.

"My little one, he's nine. He was right below the window sitting there playing his game and two bullets came in through the wall. In through the window, into the wall, right over his head. And then, like, right past my head. I could hear it go past my ear. And then, like, I felt all the glass, too," Rivera said.

The bullets pierced through glass, walls and vehicles in the parking lot. Racine Police said nobody was injured during this incident.

Rivera says her boys are traumatized.

"I was just worried about one of them getting hit with a stray bullet. It was just more terrifying for my kids than anything," Rivera said.

Racine Police ask anyone who can identify the shooter to call Investigator Willis at 262-752-8879.
