A PLANNING application with listed building consent seeks approval for the refurbishment, minor alterations and extension to a Grade II listed detached family dwelling in Scorton, near Richmond.

The Lodge, a Grade II listed heritage asset, lies towards the northeast of Scorton Conservation Area.

The main changes are to the rear and the east side while there is a minor change to the front, west side, interior and various refurbishment elements to the entire building.

Ormerod Sutton Architects Ltd, a RIBA Chartered Architects in Leeds, have been appointed by the applicants in carrying out the works with sensitivity.

The proposal is for a single-story extension to the east of the property accessed through existing double doors to be used as a games room and an extension to the north accessed through an enlarged existing window opening from the kitchen as a breakfast room.

Also planned is a frameless glass canopy to the front elevation, and porch to the side elevation to create cover over the door; and other minor internal alterations to provide a modern family dwelling for 10 people without harm to the significance of the listed heritage asset.
