2 Home Burglaries Reported In LB; Suspects Smash Through Sliding Doors | Long Beach, CA Patch

LONG BEACH, CA — Authorities on Saturday were searching for the suspects who smashed through a sliding glass door in one home and pried open a door in another to steal jewelry from both homes in Long Beach on Friday night.

In total, the Long Beach Police Department said they received three break-in reports from three separate residences. The department said it plans to step up patrols on Saturday evening amid the cluster of home burglary reports.

The first report came in at 8:20 p.m. on the 5500 block of El Jardin Street, where a woman told police she saw three men in her backyard, but they fled before officers arrived.

Around 9:41, officers were called to the 5600 block of El Parque, where suspects reportedly smashed through a sliding glass door, entered the home and stole jewelry, according to the department.

Then, at 9:52 p.m., officers were summoned to the 4200 block of Country Club Drive, where police said suspects pried open a door, entered the home and also stole jewelry.

Police were working to determine if the the three incidence were related.

"To ensure the safety of our community, we will have increased patrol resources tonight to maintain high visibility," police wrote in a statement. "Our patrol officers are coordinating with burglary detectives to further the investigation."

Residents are urged to report suspicious activity to by calling 562-435-6711, or 911 in an emergency.
